Technology Notes from Todd H. during Media Specialist Meeting
  • Pay attention to email scams.  Do not open emails or click on links that appear unfamiliar.
  • Heads up:  Crisis Management Badges are coming.  This will be a badge with an alert system.  If pushed 3x's, notification will be sent that assistance is needed.  If pushed 8x's, the school will go into lock down mode.  More information to come.
  • Some apps such as Infinite Campus and Munis will remain password protected for security purposes.  Therefore, they will not automatically open when accessed via the portal.
  • Please check all grade level cart laptops to make sure that the GMAS testing app/icon has been added.  Also, please put in HELP DESK tickets if any repairs are necessary.  We need all computers fully functioning during testing.  Let's not wait until the last minute to get this done.

Read Across America 2019 is approaching!   Here is our finalized agenda for the week of March 4th- 8th.
Monday:  The Cat in the Hat (hat day)
Tuesday:  Fox in Socks (favorite sock day)
Wednesday:  The Sleep Book (pajama day).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hntgnUQVcYk
Thursday:  Horton Hears a Who ("Who" Hair or Dress Like Horton)
Friday:  D.E.A.R Day (Drop Everything and Read)Thing 1 or Thing 2 Dress up Day.
We will have guest readers throughout the week to celebrate Dr. Seuss.
Please sign up to be a "celebrity reader", or invite a family member, parent, or friend .

Don't forget that we now have full access to our teacher portal.  The county officially rolled it out a few weeks ago.   As soon as you log into your computer, find the portal icon, sign in, and you should have full access to everything without having to sign into each program separately.  This applies to students too!

Black History Month Contest & Activities
Please take a minute or two to go over the black history month contest handout with your students.  One was placed in your boxes last week.  We will place a corrected one in your boxes this week.  Below is a copy of the handout that you can pull up on the screen and show your students.

Six Flags Read to Succeed
After you register as a teacher, please watch this video to see how to input the reading logs that your students will submit to you.  THIS IS IMPORTANT!  If you leave a child off, and they don't get their ticket their parents are not going to be happy.

All reading logs should be collected by February 26th.  If you need more, let me know.   All information has to be entered online by March 1st.  These details along with other important guidelines can be found in your teacher toolkit once you register and/or log in.
Websites (please watch if you have not completed part 2 of your site)

Teachers remember Renaissance and MyOn are linked to Infinite Campus.  Therefore, new students will automatically be added once they're in IC.  It may take up to 24  hours.
Ilearn is the only program that we have to add the students in ourselves.  Thanks!

  • Please send pictures to my email address.  I will add them to the yearbook drive folder created by Ms. Birr and updated by Mrs. Phillips.
    • Please do not send students to the media center without a pass.  Pass this along to any sub on your team.

Thank you all for your support during this book fair.   We surpassed our goal.  Our goal was to increase sales by 5% from last year.  I can't wait to purchase new books and technology for our students.

If you were registered with BSES in the past, I have re-registered you.  If you're new, please register your class for the Six Flags Read to Succeed program.  It's a great incentive to get your students reading.  Here is the registration link https://feedback.sixflags.com/rts/.  Remember, if you were previously registered with BSES, I have already re-registered you.  However, you should still log into your account and change your password.   Apparently, you can use our new or old email address as your log in.   I have no clue what password Mrs. Huey used for you all last year.   Sorry!   If you were never registered with BSES, the steps on the link are pretty easy to follow.

All reading logs should be collected by February 26th.  If you need more, let me know.   All information has to be entered online by March 1st.  These details along with other important guidelines can be found in your teacher toolkit once you register and/or log in.
